We call Chlorella (Chlorella vulgaris)the younger super sister of Spirulina. The first species of this green microscopic unicellular algae - Chlorella vulgaris,  was discovered and studied by botanist and biologist Dr. Martinus Willem Beijerinck in the 1890s. Since then, more than 100 species of this aquatic plant have been counted in the world. Currently, the most common and used as functional food are three: C. vulgaris, C. lobophora and C. sorokiniana.  In our store you will find Chlorella vulgaris, the most studied species to date. As a functional food, Chlorella was first started to be researched and "exploded" in Japan, where its good properties are highly valued to this day.

Chlorella benefits

All claims about the benefits of chlorella are based on scientific articles.

Chlorella is highly valued and used as the first tool to remove heavy metals from the body, which usually enter the human body through air pollution. This microalgae acts as an ion exchange resin, binding to toxic metals in the digestive tract and removing toxins from the body.

Chlorella's antioxidant properties, as some scientific studies have shown, can also reduce the risk of cancer (ref. reference ).

Chlorella as a functional food is usually presented in the form of powder or tablets made from powder, since the cell walls of this plant are made of cellulose. However, the processed plant - dried/ground allows humans to absorb up to 80% of Chlorella proteins, which make up the majority of the composition of this plant (~60%). This ratio exceeds the proportions found in beef, which is considered one of the most concentrated sources of protein. Chlorella has three times more protein! Therefore, you will be hard-pressed to find a better source of protein than this one. Chlorella is also an excellent plant-based protein choice for those with various food allergies.

Chlorella is considered one of the most effective sources of non-synthetic chlorophyll, containing the highest amount of chlorophyll of any known plant. Chlorophyll is very similar to hemoglobin in its chemical composition and interacts perfectly with our blood. Chlorophyll can help with ulcer/wound healing, hemorrhoids and menstrual regulation, waiting or recovering from an illness. Also, chlorophyll can help with magnesium deficiency. Chlorophyll, whose biologically active molecules have a wide range of beneficial health effects, including: antioxidant, antimutagenic, antigenotoxic, anticancer and antiobesity effects, is believed to have anti-diabetic properties and can be a great helper in diabetes.

Regular use of chlorophyll is said to help:

In the general regulation of blood sugar;
Reducing hypoglycemia (too low blood sugar);
Having hyperinsulinemia (too high levels of insulin in the blood);
In the fight against hypertriglyceridemia (too much fat in the blood).

Therefore, chlorophyll is often recommended as a prophylactic for people with diabetes.

Chlorella microalgae contains more than 20 vitamins and minerals in larger quantities. Extremely rich in B vitamins. Rich in all the amino acids that make up proteins.

Niacin (dilates blood vessels, lowers blood cholesterol);
Folic acid (involved in the processes of cell renewal and division, growth and development; an important component for the maturation of red blood cells in the bone marrow);
Biotin (supports healthy metabolism in the body, relieves symptoms of diabetes, regulates blood sugar levels, helps in hair growth processes);
Pantothene (B5) (reduces cholesterol levels in the blood, helps with hair loss);
B12 (responsible for energy metabolism - reduces the feeling of tiredness, supports the activity of the nervous system, so it can be directly responsible for mood, participates in the process of blood cell formation).

Ashwagandha, black cumin, and flax seeds

Ashwagandha, also known as Indian ginseng, reduces stress, anxiety and improves sleep quality. Several clinical studies show that Ashwagandha can lower blood sugar and triglycerides and increase muscle mass and strength. It can also improve female sexual function and male fertility.

Buckwheat improves digestion and stimulates brain activity. Polyunsaturated fatty acids contained in buckwheat seeds can suppress allergic reactions, strengthen immunity and have a positive effect on metabolic processes. Buckwheat seeds contain more than 100 active substances that regulate many body functions.

Flaxseeds have a high concentration of polyunsaturated fatty acids, known as "good fats". Flaxseeds also contain 56% Omega 3 and 15% Omega 6. It is important to note that the Omega 3 content in flaxseed is significantly higher than Omega 6, and in the current diet omega 6 we get too much and this excess promotes the appearance of various diseases, so flaxseed is an extremely valuable dietary supplement, especially if you eat little marine fish.
